After his playing career ended, Jim Beattie went on to serve as Farm Director and Director of Player Development for the Seattle Mariners from 1990 to 1995. He moved on as General Manager of the Montreal Expos from October 1995 to 2001. Next he was Executive Vice President/Co-GM of the Baltimore Orioles beginning in 2003. He was removed from the position by the O's after the 2005 season.
