[edit] Biographical Information
Jim Bailey is the brother of catcher Ed Bailey; they were teammates on the 1959 Reds. Jim was a left-hand pitcher who came up to the Cincinnati Reds for a brief time in 1959 giving the team a rare brother battery. He made just one start and two relief appearances, losing his only decision 2-1, with the run that beat him scoring on a pop fly to the infield that fell in safely.
He had further bad luck the following year in spring training when he suffered a broken arm, and he never again pitched in the major leagues.
In the minors, Jim pitched for six seasons, posting a record of 60-48. His best year was 1957 when he went 18-7 for two teams. From 1958-60, when not in the majors, he played for Nashville.
Jim lives in Fairburn, GA as of 2008 and has been employed with the Atlanta based P.I.E. Nationwide, in freight motor sales.
