Jim Panther pitched three seasons in the major leagues. In 1972, his 58 appearances put him among the league leaders for most games pitched.
Panther had three distinguished managers. In 1971, he pitched in four games for the Oakland Athletics who won 101 games under manager Dick Williams. In 1972, he pitched for the Texas Rangers who lost 100 games under manager Ted Williams. In 1973, he pitched for the Atlanta Braves under Eddie Mathews. All three of these managers are in the Hall of Fame.
Panther is sure to make the "all animal" team, with players such as Dean Crow, Chief Yellow Horse, Catfish Hunter, "Crime Dog" Fred McGriff, "Rattlesnake" Tom Baker, Bob Moose, and others.
