[edit] Biographical Information

Jim Mahoney played four seasons in the majors with four teams, along with 16 seasons in the minors.

He was signed in 1953 as a pitcher. He hit .346 for the Bradford Phillies and the Salisbury Rocots, but went 0-5 on the mound, and became a shortstop in 1954. He pitched one game in 1966 and one game in 1967, both in the Pacific Coast League.

Mahoney was a Chicago White Sox coach from 1972 to 1976 and a member of the Seattle Mariners staff in 1985 and 1986.

He is not to be confused with his contemporary Jim Maloney.
