[edit] Biographical Information

Jim Jones made his ML debut in the (in)famous Chicago-Louisville game of June 29, 1897. Chicago won 36-7; the 36 is still the record for the most runs scored in one game. Jones was charged with 22 runs that day.

Jones's 22 is not the most for any pitcher: Dave Rowe of Cleveland gave up 35 runs while starting against Chicago in 1882. Strangely, no one seems to know the record for most runs charged to a relief pitcher. So Jones likely holds that record.

He later played for the New York Giants in the Christy Mathewson era.
