Jim Bucher played seven seasons in the major leagues. Just prior to that time, he nearly won the Triple Crown while playing in 1933 for Greensboro, missing by one RBI.
Bucher in the majors played roughly equal amounts of second and third base, and also appeared in the outfield sometimes.
He hit .302 for the 1935 Brooklyn Dodgers under manager Casey Stengel, and was later traded in 1937 along with others for Leo Durocher.
He was with the Toledo Mud Hens in 1942-44.
After baseball he worked for the government.
