Biographical Information[edit]

Jerry Neudecker was an umpire in the Georgia-Alabama League (1950), Evangeline League (1951), South Atlantic League (1956), Georgia-Florida League (1957), Sally League again (1960-1962), and Southern League (1963-1965). He was then an American League umpire from 1966 to 1985. He called three All Star games (1966, 1972, 1976) and two World Series (1973, 1979). Neudecker is best remembered for being the last umpire to use a balloon (outside) chest protector.
