Jerry McNertney came up to the Chicago White Sox as a catcher in 1964. His only time as a regular came with the expansion 1969 Seattle Pilots and 1970 Milwaukee Brewers. He finished his career as a backup catcher with the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates.
