Jerry Mallett appeared in four games for the 1959 Boston Red Sox, all in center field.

He was 17 years younger than left fielder Ted Williams.

Mallett was at Baylor University from 1955-57 and then signed as a free agent by the Red Sox. He was in the minors from 1957-62. He was a teammate of Bob Tillman at Allentown in 1959, where Mallett hit .278 with 19 homers while Tillman hit .272 with 25 homers.
