[edit] Biographical Information

Jerry Hairston is the son of Jerry Hairston Sr., brother of Scott Hairston, grandson of Sammy Hairston, and nephew of Johnny Hairston and Sam Hairston Jr.. He is part of only three three-generation MLB families, the Boones and Bells being the other two.

On May 31, 2006 he was traded to the Texas Rangers for Phil Nevin.

In 2005, he led off two games with a home run. He also played five positions in 2005.

Hairston played for Mexico in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, going 4 for 14 with 3 walks, a double, 3 runs and a RBI. He alternated between right field and center field, with his brother Scott also playing center during the Classic.

Harold Baines and Ozzie Guillen played with both Jerry Hairstons.
