Jerry Don Gleaton was a survivor as a major leaguer as he never put up outstanding numbers, but he pitched in 12 seasons from 1979 to 1992. He did not pitch in any major league games in 1983 or 1986. His most productive stretch was as a closer at the end of the season for the 1990 Detroit Tigers. He appeared in 34 games for the Tigers that year, giving up only 62 hits in 82 2/3 innings, walking 25 and striking out 56. His ERA was a very respectable 2.94. He made 13 starts for the 1981 Seattle Mariners, including a complete game loss on April 30 against the Tigers. He gave up 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 earned runs, walked 7 and struck out 2. The Mariners were shutout that day by Dave Rozema, losing 2-0.

  • In 12 years, Gleaton never once saw the postseason.
