[edit] Biographical Information
Always a promising young outfielder with the Philadelphia Phillies of the 1970's, Jerry Martin never really fulfilled that promise. He also played for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Kansas City Royals, and New York Mets. He had good arm but never really hit for great power or average. Martin hit 19 Home Runs for the 1979 Cubs and 23 the next year for the Cubbies. After leaving Chicago he only hit 4 Home Runs for the Giants.
In 1989, Martin played for the St. Petersburg Pelicans and Orlando Juice of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He hit .281 with 39 RBI for the teams. In 1990, he was with the Fort Myers Sun Sox, also of the SPBA. He played in 19 games and was batting .189 when the league folded.
Martin is the son of Barney Martin and brother of Mike Martin
