Jeremy Papelbon is the twin brother of Josh Papelbon and the brother of Jonathan Papelbon.
Jeremy Papelbon had a big year in 2006, going 5-4 with a 2.43 ERA, the best ERA in the Atlantic Sun Conference. He walked only 14 in 89 innings. It was impressive as this was the University of North Florida's first season in NCAA Division I. The Chicago Cubs picked him in the 19th round of the 2006 amateur draft, 29 rounds before his twin was chosen. Jeremy debuted professionally with the Boise Hawks, going 4-0 with 3 saves and a 1.83 ERA in 18 relief stints. He allowed just a .182 average and struck out 50 in 44 1/3 IP. He made the Northwest League All-Star team as the top left-handed relief pitcher.
In 2007, Papelbon went 9-6 with 3 saves and a 3.11 ERA for the Peoria Chiefs. He struck out 99 and walked 30 in 107 innings and was being used as a starting pitcher late in the season.
