[edit] Biographical Information
Undrafted out of college, Jerad Head was signed by the Cleveland Indians organization in 2005 and reached the major leagues in 2011.
While playing for the Kinston Indians on August 4, 2008, Head was asked to come in to pitch against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He relieved Jansy Infante, another position player who had just given up five earned runs without getting any hitters out; Head gave up just a hit and a walk with no earned runs. As a result, Infante now owns the worst possible career ERA a pitcher can have (infinity), while Head has the best possible career ERA (0.00).
Head was MVP of the 2010 Triple-A National Championship, going 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI in a Columbus Clippers win. He reached the majors with the Indians in 2011, making his debut on August 28th against the Kansas City Royals. He got the start in left field that game and notched his first big league hit.
