[edit] Biographical Information
Signed as a pitcher in 1959, Jeoff Long - a strong power hitter - was converted to first base in the low minors. The presence of All-Star Bill White, as well as a chronic knee problem, limited him to just 56 games in the majors with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox in 1963 and 1964.
In 1975, Jeoff (a 15-handicap amateur) won the first National Open Long Driving contest, beating many PGA pros.
