Jeffer Patiño played his sixth minor league season in 2011.

Patiño signed as an amateur free agent with the Chicago White Sox; the scout was Amador Arias. He hit .258/.361/.355 as a rookie for the 2006 VSL Orioles/White Sox. In 2007, he batted .297/.394/.393 for the DSL White Sox 2 with 44 runs in 64 games. He was third in the Dominican Summer League with 11 sacrifice hits. He fielded .964 at second base, his main spot. With the 2008 DSL White Sox 1, he hit .327/.431/.494 with 15 doubles and 34 runs in 47 games. He was 4th in the league in both average (behind Hector Sanchez, Cesar Guillen and Jairo Perez) and OPS (behind Perez, Sanchez and Eddie Lora). He fielded .962.

Jeffer hit .188/.265/.248 for the 2009 Bristol Sox, moving mostly to third base. He returned to Bristol in 2010 and improved to .316/.345/.391. He had Bristol's top average despite being a backup at both 2B and 3B. Had he qualified, he would have made the Appalachian League top 10 in average. In 2011, he produced at a .212/.275/.322 line as a backup third baseman for the Great Falls Voyagers.

He then played for the Panamanian national team. He backed up Ángel Chávez at short in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, going 4 for 14 with 2 walks, a run and a RBI. He put up almost identical numbers in the 2011 Pan American Games - 4 for 14, one walk, a run and a RBI. In that event, he split second base with Jorge Bishop and backed up Javier Castillo at third base.
