[edit] Biographical Information
Jeff Manto was signed as a 14th round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the California Angels and scout Al Goldis.
After his playing career ended, Manto was a coach of the Lakewood BlueClaws in the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 2001 and spent the next season as the club's skipper. He joined the Pittsburgh Pirates as a minor league hitting instructor after the 2002 season and was named the team's hitting coach in 2005. In 2008, Manto became the minor league hitting coordinator for the Chicago White Sox and in 2012 was appointed hitting coach with the big league team by new manager Robin Ventura.
