Jeff Livin pitched as high as AA then became a college coach.

Livin was picked by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the 1984 amateur draft, one round after another future college coach, Lindsay Meggs. In his pro debut, Jeff had a 5-7, 3.34 record for the Auburn Astros, with 76 K to 19 BB in 89 IP. He tied for second in the New York-Penn League in losses. The next year, he went 15-7 with a 3.48 ERA for the Asheville Tourists. He tied for third in the South Atlantic League in wins, 3 behind Mike Eglund, and tied for second in complete games (8).

The right-hander went 8-10 with a 3.97 ERA for the '86 Osceola Astros then finished his career with the 1987 Columbus Astros (5-9, 2 Sv, 5.06). He had gone 33-33 with a 3.91 ERA in 107 minor league games (71 starts).

Livin was later an assistant at Southwestern University and Southwest Texas State University. From 1992-1995, he coached Wayland Baptist University. He was Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year his last year there. He then became head coach of Angelina College, where he helped develop Clay Buchholz and Andrew Cashner.
