Pitcher Jeff Isom was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 18th round of the 1993 amateur draft and played three seasons in the minors in the Pirates and San Diego Padres systems. He added four more seasons in the independent leagues.

Isom managed six seasons in the independent leagues. He moved back to affiliated ball with the Helena Brewers in 2007 and became skipper of the West Virginia Power for the next season.
