Pitcher Jeff Bumgarner was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the 1985 amateur draft. Bumgarner pitched in AAA briefly in 1988 and stayed in the minors through 1992, but never made the majors.
On December 7, 1988, Bumgarner was traded by the Twins with Steve Gasser, and Toby Nivens to the New York Mets for Wally Backman and Mike Santiago.
