Biographical Information
After his playing career ended, catcher Jeff Datz went on to be a scout and minor league manager. Working his way up the Cleveland Indians' chain, Datz coached the Watertown Indians (1993) and managed Watertown (1994) and the Columbus RedStixx (1995) to the playoffs. His Canton-Akron Indians (1996) and Akron Aeros (1997) didn't make the playoffs. His Buffalo Bisons won the International League title in 1998, but finished 9th in 1999. In 2000-2001, he was the Indians' minor league field coordinator. He was a Cleveland Indians coach from 2002 to 2009, then became a coach with the Baltimore Orioles in 2010. In 2011, he moved to the Seattle Mariners where he became the third base coach under Eric Wedge.
