Jed Hoyer is a general manager.
Hoyer was a SS-P for Wesleyan University when they made it to the finals of the 1994 Division III World Series. He finished with the single-season and career save records at Wesleyan. He was assistant coach at Wesleyan for two years.
Jed spent 44 days as co-General Manager of the Boston Red Sox in 2005. He was Assistant General Manager for the Red Sox from 2005-2009. In October 2009, he was named the new GM of the San Diego Padres, replacing Kevin Towers. With one year remaining on his contract, he was hired by newly-appointed Chicago Cubs team President Theo Epstein to be the Cubs GM manager on October 26, 2011. Epstein had been his boss with the Boston Red Sox.
