Jason Wuerfel


Jason Wuerfel attended the University of Michigan where he lettered four times in Baseball and was the 2003 recipient of the Wolverine Award for Spirit and Leadership.

After graduating, Wuerfel went on to a short lived professional playing career in the Independent Frontier League where he spent time with the Elmira Pioneers, Mid-Missouri Mavericks and the Ohio Valley Redcoats. Jason was cut from the roster of the Traverse City Beach Bums prior to the team's 2006 inaugural season. Shortly thereafter, Wuerfel was named the teams Director of Baseball Operations. Prior to the 2008 season, Jason was named the Beach Bums hitting coach.

Jason Wuerfel is the son of John and Leslye Wuerfel, owners of the Traverse City Beach Bums and Wuerfel Park. Jason owns and operates the Beach Bums Baseball Academy which teaches skills to young players, as well as founding Five Tools Prospects which promotes the careers of high school and college athletes.
