 Biographical Information
Roenicke hit .380 in high school. In junior college, Jason had a 6-1, 4.63 ERA as a freshman and 6-1, 4.80 as a sophomore. The Cincinnati Reds took him in the 22nd round of the 2007 amateur draft but he did not sign. He had 3 saves and a 5.02 ERA as a junior transfer to UCSC with 16 strikeouts in 14 1/3 IP.
He was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 19th round of the 2008 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that summer with the Auburn Doubledays, holding opposing hitters to a .190 average in nine appearances but walking 8 in 11 2/3 IP. He had a 2.31 ERA and one save. He spent 2009 with the Lansing Lugnuts, going 2-5 with a save and a 4.13 ERA in 17 outings out of the bullpen.
He played in independent baseball from 2010 to his final season, 2012. In 2010, he was 3-3 with a 4.76 ERA in 29 games (7 starts) for the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League. He was 3-3 with 3 saves and a 6.34 ERA in 32 appearances for the North American League's Chico Heat in 2011 and in 2012, he had a 12.60 ERA in 5 games for the San Rafael Pacifics, also of the North American League.
Overall, Roenicke was 8-11 with 5 saves and a 5.12 ERA in 92 games (7 starts).
