He started his minor league career as a third baseman, and was good enough to lead one of minor league teams in home runs, before being converted to the mound. As of July 2005 he was a swingman for Tampa Bay's AAA team, the Durham Bulls, after spending the rest of his career in the New York Mets system.
In the offseason he gives pitching and hitting lessons to high school players in Raleigh, NC.
(As an aside, Jason is one hell of a nice guy and really knows his stuff baseball-wise)
