Pitcher Jason Pruitt was selected by the Kansas City Royals with a supplemental first round pick (30th overall) in the 1991 amateur draft out of Rockingham County High School in Wentworth, NC.

Starting with the 1991 GCL Royals (which also had 10th round pick Mike Sweeney), Pruitt had a 2-3 3.00 ERA, with 27/30 BB/SO in 36 IP. Moving up to the Eugene Emeralds in 1992, he posted a 4-8 5.09 line with 39/47 BB/SO in 71 IP and 3-5 6.32 with 31/28 BB/SO in 53 IP for the Appleton Foxes.
