Pitcher James Herndon played two seasons in the Boston Braves organization. In 1948, he went 16-14 with a 3.17 ERA for the Richmond Roses of the Ohio-Indiana League, and he split the following summer between the Bluefield Blue-Grays of the Appalachian League and the Evansville Braves of the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League. Following his baseball career, he served in the Air Force for 21 years and later worked at Kennedy Space Center.
