Jacob Cruz played 9 seasons in the major leagues, most recently in 2005 as a pinch hitter. His minor league career started in 1994, and, except for the year 2000, has continued through the year 2006. Nine of those seasons were in Triple A ball. In 2006, he was mostly with the Norfolk Tides, hitting .290 in 55 games.
He played in the Korea Baseball Organization in 2007 and part of 2008 (Hanwha Eagles and Samsung Lions, respectively). Since then, he's played for the Potros de Tijuana (2008) and Dorados de Chihuahua (2009-2010) of the Mexican minors and the Sioux City Explorers of the independent American Association (2010).
He has been mostly a strong hitter in the minors, with a .306 average over 11 seasons and a .482 slugging percentage.
In 2011, Cruz became a coach with the Yakima Bears. In 2012, he moved to the Visalia Rawhide, also in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
