Jackson A. Quezada Perez

Jackson Quezada is a minor league relief pitcher currently (through March, 2009) on the San Diego Padres 40-man roster. He was signed by scout Felix Francisco.

Quezada began his professional career in 2004 with the DSL Padres, going 5-4 with a 1.37 ERA and only walking 13 in 72 1/3 IP. In 2005, he was 6-1 with a 1.97 ERA for the same club.

He came stateside in 2006 with the Eugene Emeralds, going 2-2 with a 4.19 ERA in 18 games (four starts). He tied for the Northwest League lead with three balks. The following year, again with the Emeralds, he went 3-2 with a 3.75 ERA in 21 relief appearances. He also struck out 29 batters in 24 innings. With the Fort Wayne Wizards in 2008, he made 59 relief appearances, going 2-4 with a 2.12 ERA. He had 79 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings. He led the Midwest League in games pitched and saves (27). He was one of two relievers chosen for the league All-Star team. The Padres added him to their 40-man roster that winter.
