Jack Smitheran

Jack Smitheran spent over 30 years as a college head coach. In 31 years at UC Riverside (1974-2004) he put up a 974-709-3 record. He coached the team to the 1977 and 1982 Division II titles. Under Smitheran the Highlanders also won 8 CCAA titles. He served as an assistant coach on the coach on the 2004 USA Baseball Team. In 2002 he was inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame, and in 2004 UC Riverside inducted him into thier Hall of Fame. He retired from UC Riverside in 2004. Smitheran then became a scouting advisor for the Seattle Mariners. In 2006 the school retired his number 2.
