[edit] Biographical Information

"The great conservationist" - Lefty O'Doul, about Jack Salveson's preference to pitch quickly and without many pitches"

Jack Salveson played 21 seasons in professional ball, of which 5 were in the majors and 16 were in the PCL. He pitched quickly, once finishing a game in one hour twenty minutes, and tried to keep his pitch count under 100. He eschewed the "fancy pitches" such as the screwball and slider, preferring the fastball.

He won over 200 games while in the PCL.

He appeared in the Lou Gehrig movie "Pride of the Yankees", playing a pitcher.
