[edit] Biographical Information
Jack Blaylock was a World War II veteran who caught for the Ponca City Dodgers in 1947. Due to his physical condition from wounds suffered during World War II he was unable to continue playing. Branch Rickey befriended him and made room for Jack with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was the bullpen coach for the 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers.
Blaylock played in the minors with the class C Middle Atlantic League Johnstown Johnnies, the class B Piedmont League Newport News Dodgers, the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League Ponca City Dodgers and the class D Blue Ridge League Elkin Blanketeers in 1946-1947 and 1950-1951, never posting good offensive numbers.
He lives in Oak Ridge, NC as of 2008.
