Jack Kubiszyn played 25 games in each of 1961-62 for the Cleveland Indians. He played mostly shortstop and third base, with a couple games at second base.
Jack was born in Buffalo, NY in December, 1936, the same month that Bo Belinsky was also born in New York. Jack attended the University of Alabama from 1957-58, the only future major leaguer to do so in the period 1953-69. He was signed by the Indians in 1958.
Kubiszyn hit in the .250's in the minors in 1958-59, and then blossomed in 1960, hitting .330 split between two teams. He came up to the majors in each of 1961 and 1962 while also playing for Salt Lake City both seasons. In 1963-64 he hit over .290 each year for Atlanta and Oklahoma City.
Lucy Stallworth Kubiszyn wrote a book called When a Star Fell on Alabama: The Jack Kubiszyn Story. It says Jack was part of the "Rocket Eight" basketball team at Bama.
Jack was a member of the Tuscaloosa city council in the 1990's and once ran for mayor.
