[edit] Biographical information

Irv Dickens was a minor league player and manager.

He played from 1939 to 1941 and from 1946 to 1950 for the Kinston Eagles (1939), Wilson Tobs (1940-41, 1946-50) and Salisbury Pirates (1946). He played in the Coastal Plain League for his entire career, except for his spell with the Pirates - with them, he played in the North Carolina State League. In eight minor league seasons, he played 855 games and hit around .302.

In 1946, Dickens managed the Tobs to a 67-57 record, placing them third in the league. They made the playoffs that year, though they lost in the first round. He also managed the Tobs for part of the 1948 season, replacing Max Wilson partway through the season and being replaced by Bob Latshaw.
