Ira "Slats" Davis played in the major leagues in 1899. In 1901 he had been with Denver, and the Sporting Life of March 8, 1902 reported that Slats had started an oil company.
The Sporting Life of March 26, 1898 indicates that he was signed to be the player-manager of the Danbury club, and that he is "an excellent ball player" who will be one of the "highest-salaried men" in the league.
A Brewster newspaper in May 1899 stated that he was a former Brewster player and after being released by the New York Giants would probably join New Haven.
1905 found him as an umpire in the Pacific Coast League.
