The Idaho Falls A's were an Oakland A's affiliate in the Pioneer League for three seasons. In 1982, their first season, manager Keith Lieppman led them to a 42-28 record and the Southern Division title. Third baseman Leon Baham led the circuit with 102 hits, pitcher Todd Fischer posted a league-best 1.12 ERA, and shortstop Kenneth Clayton was an All-Star. However, the Medicine Hat Blue Jays defeated them for the championship. The next year, the A's went 27-40 as Jim Nettles replaced Lieppman in midseason, and in 1984, their final season, Nettles led the club to a 27-41 mark. After the season, their affiliation with Oakland ended, and the team became the Idaho Falls Nuggets.
