Hugh Alexander was a major league first baseman for the Cleveland Indians in 1937. After an off-season injury while working at an Oklahoma oil well, he lost a hand. Alexander was hired as a scout, a position he enjoyed for the next sixty-one seasons. He primarily wore number 2.
