Hooks Cotter was the starting first baseman for the 1924 Cubs, a team which finished over .500.
He attracted attention when he hit .396 for Springfield in 1922.
After his year in the majors he played in the American Association from 1925-30 and then for Dallas.
It is said he owned an apartment building after his playing days.
