The history of baseball in Italy to the 1880s. The first game in the country was played in 1884, however baseball increased in popularity following World War II when soldiers from the United States taught the game to locals; Jimmy Strong was particularly active in Italian baseball for years. The first professional league was played in 1948.

The Italian men's national team have competed at all four Olympics, and finished 6th twice. Their best Baseball World Cup showing was a fourth place, in 1998.
