Hirotami Kojima was an Olympic medalist.
Kojima was the main DH for the Japan in the 1992 Olympics. He hit .235/.375/.412 with 6 runs and 7 RBI in eight games. In the Bronze Medal game, he was 0 for 1 with two walks (from Ron Villone and Jeff Alkire) as the DH against Team USA, hitting 6th. Masafumi Nishi replaced him later in the game and Japan cruised to a 8-3 win.
Kojima later managed for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki in the Japanese industrial leagues. He then became active again with the national team, now in an administrative role. He was a coach for Japan in the 2004 Haarlem Baseball Week, 2006 Asian Games, 2007 Baseball World Cup and 2009 Baseball World Cup. He managed Japan to a Bronze Medal at the 2010 Asian Games and to a 12th-place finish in the 2011 Baseball World Cup.
