The High Desert Mavericks are currently a Class A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners in the California League. The team came into being when the owners of the Riverside Red Wave, Hall of Famer George Brett and his brothers (John, Bob, and Kemmer), moved the club to Adelanto, CA for the 1991 season. The Mavericks won the California League title in 1991, 1993, and 1997. The club has called Mavericks Stadium home since their inaugural season.

The 1994 Co-op team received players from 9 major league teams, notably 10 players from the Boston Red Sox, 8 players from the Cleveland Indians, and 4 players from the Montreal Expos (including Hanley Frias).
