Hide Koga

[edit] Biographical Information
Hide Koga was a minor league player in the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs organizations, playing no higher than class A. He later moved back to Japan, where he held front office jobs for the Daiei Hawks for two decades.
In 1990, he was selected to manage the Salinas Spurs of the California League, a co-op team that featured a number of Japanese players. That made him the first Japanese manager of an American baseball team. He managed the team for three largely unsuccessful seasons before returning to Japan, where he worked for Hawks, and then for the Chiba Lotte Marines.
