Through 2006, Herman Pitz and Bill Holbert are the only players in Major League history to have had at least 200 at-bats in a season but not collect a single extra base hit.
Pitz holds the all-time record for the most career hits (47) by a player with no extra base hits. Virgil Barnes is second, with 40.
