[edit] Biographical Information
Herm McFarland played pro ball from around 1890 to 1910, coming to the majors for five seasons. He was a big league regular in 1901 and 1903.
McFarland is one of six players (through 2010) with that last name. Except for Howie McFarland, who was up in 1945, all the others were in the majors between 1884 and 1908. In 1903, when Herm was a regular for the 1903 Highlanders, Ed McFarland was the regular catcher for the 1903 White Sox and Chappie McFarland was the # 1 pitcher for the 1903 Cardinals.
Although his given first name was Hermas, he was often called Herman in the press.
