Hercules Burnett truly was a Hercules in the majors. In his 21 at-bats spread out over 2 seasons, he slugged .714. In 1895, his 17 at-bats included a triple and two home runs, for a slugging percentage of .882.

His two major league seasons came 7 years apart - 1888 and 1895.

He homered in his last Major League at-bat.

He managed at Montgomery in 1903.

"Burnett, an amateur, was given a trial by the home team and did well." - Sporting Life, July 4, 1888, about the June 26 game in which Burnett batted fifth in the lineup
