[edit] Biographical Information

Henry Lampe pitched in the majors in 1894 and 1895. He played amateur and minor league ball beginning in 1892 and continuing at least through 1899.

The New York Clipper newspaper of December 25, 1899 carries a detailed history of Lampe's career, calling him "the left-handed wonder of the Syracuse club", and saying he was regarded by many as the best southpaw in the Eastern League. The article also has a sketch of him. It was said that "personally, he is a splendid fellow, has a great army of friends."
