[edit] Biographical Information

Henry Cruz was born in the Virgin Islands but his family returned to his father's roots in Fajardo, Puerto Rico when he was a little baby. He saw spot duty with the Dodgers in parts of 1975 and 1976. Cruz hit .353 for Albuquerque in 1977 and was released at the close of the minor league season, to be claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox on September 2, 1977. He was a reserve with the White Sox in the first half of 1978 but was released and never made it back to the majors.

Henry played for the Arecibo Wolves in the Puerto Rico Winter Baseball League and was one of the most consistent hitters of that team. He played his last four professional seasons in Mexico.

Cruz was hitting coach of the 2007 Ogden Raptors. When Dave Collins stepped down as manager of the Inland Empire 66ers in January of 2008 and hitting coach John Valentin took his place, Cruz became the team's new hitting coach.
