Catcher Henry Cote played 10 games in the majors in each of 1894 and 1895. He had an extremely long career in the minors, still being active at age 46 in 1910. Whether true or not, he developed a reputation as an ironman of catchers:
"Manager Torreyson (of Wheeling) said that in 1892 a catcher named Henry Cote caught every game played, both championship and exhibition games, and, what was more, he did it as a member of the Wilkesbarre club, who were champions that year. Besides doing this he next year went to Johnstown, Pa., where he repeated the performance, thus catching every championship and exhibition game for his club two years in succession, and, what is more, both clubs won the championship." - Sporting Life of December 4, 1897
"As far as figures on hand show the world's record is held by Henry Cote who in 1898 for Grand Rapids, in the Interstate League, caught 155 games, every game on the schedule." - Sporting Life of Sept. 28, 1912
