[edit] Biographical Information

Henry Blanco was the back-up catcher for the Venezuelan national team in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. In the first round seeding game against Team USA on March 11, he stunned everyone by blasting a home run off his teammate with the Chicago Cubs, Ted Lilly and following that with a double off Mark Guthrie and later a single off Brad Ziegler. For good measure, he threw out Derek Jeter attempting to steal second in the bottom of the 9th to preserve a 5-3 Venezuelan win.
