IF/OF Hector de la Cruz played in the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 1984 to 1990. From 2001 to 2004, he was a minor league coach in the Arizona Diamondbacks system, first with the Missoula Osprey (2001-2002), then with the South Bend Silver Hawks (2003-2004).
From 2005 to 2006, he was manager of the Missoula Osprey of the Pioneer League. After the 2006 season he was named manager of the Visalia Oaks in the California League, and a year later, he became skipper of the Mobile BayBears of the Southern League.
He managed the Tigres del Licey to the 2008 Caribbean Series title.
